Mahindra Thar has received around 39,000 bookings since 2nd October 2020, the day of its launch. Interestingly, for the ones who do not know, Mahindra Thar was launched on the same day and has received an overwhelming response since then.

Recently, Mahindra has also discontinued the lower trims such as AX STD and AX. Therefore, right now, Thar is only available in AX OPT and LX variants. Also, the SUV is now priced at Rs.12.10 Lakh for the base variant and goes upto Rs.14.15 Lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

The engine that powers the 2020 Mahindra Thar is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. It can produce a massive 150BHP of power alongside a peak torque of 320Nm. However, it is also available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 130BHP of power. The peak torque from this engine stands at 300Nm. Both the engines are available with a manual as well as automatic transmission. Whereas, 4WD is available across all the variants for proper off-road capability.

Feature-wise, the all-new Thar is no less than any other modern SUV. It comes with a water-resistant 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, 18-inch alloy wheels and signature rounded headlamps.

Mahindra has received around 6,000 bookings from the month of January 2021. Also, to cater such massive demand, Mahindra is ready to ramp up its production. Recently, the Indian carmaker has also recalled around 1,577 units of Mahindra Thar diesel variant that was manufactured between 7th September to 25th December. Also, the company has recently launched XUV300 Petrol with an AMT gearbox.
