Everyone knows that the Mahindra XUV300 is the safest car in India. However, this time the sub 4 meter SUV has achieved a new milestone by scoring a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP in Africa.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The car that scored the 5-star rating was made in India.
  • The mini SUV scored 16.42 points out of 17 for adult occupants.
When tested, Mahindra XUV300 scored 16.42 points out of 17 for adult safety. Meanwhile, for the child’s safety the mini SUV was able to score 37.44 points out of 49. Interestingly, the car that was tested there was manufactured in India itself. The safety features it has got to offer are front airbags, ABS, EBD and parking sensors among others. However, the top-end variants get 360-degree parking sensors, disc brakes on all four wheels, hill start assist and a rear parking camera.
Under the hood, the Africa-bound XUV300 is available with either a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The earlier one produces 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the latter one is capable of churning out a massive 116PS alongside a peak torque of 300Nm.
Being a feature-rich SUV, it is available with a sunroof, heated wing mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic projector headlamps and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system among others. Further, this infotainment system can also support Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.
In India, Mahindra XUV300 rivals other sub 4 meter SUVs such as Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, etc. among others. However, as per the safety ratings, only Tata Nexon was able to score a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP.
