Mahindra is back with a new name for its upcoming SUV. The Indian brand has decided to use the ‘XUV700’ moniker on its new 7-seater offering. Earlier, it was expected to be the next-generation XUV500. However, that is not true. In fact, this SUV will be launched in India to fill the gap between the Alturas G4 and XUV500.

According to the sources, Mahindra will discontinue the XUV500 temporarily, just after the launch of this SUV. And, soon after will be reintroducing it as a 5-seater. Also, the company has confirmed that the upcoming XUV700 will be launched in India by Q2, 2022. The production of this SUV will take place in the Chakan Plant, Maharastra.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mahindra is expected to use the ‘XUV700’ moniker on its upcoming 7-seater SUV.
  • The XUV500 will be reworked to rival Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos as a 5-seater.
  • World-class features will be a part of the all-new Mahindra XUV700.

What to expect from the upcoming Mahindra XUV700?

Mahindra XUV700 has been spied multiple times. According to that, it is expected to come with LED headlights with DRLs, a large grille, sporty alloy wheels, disc brakes and LED taillights among others. In terms of safety, it will get ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a minimum of 6 airbags for sure. According to the sources, Mahindra is also expected to launch this SUV with the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

The carmaker has not commented on the powertrain yet. However, the new 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected to be a part of this upcoming SUV. These engines will either be available with a manual or an automatic gearbox with AWD restricted to the top-end variants.

Mahindra really has got high hopes from the XUV700. And according to the teaser video, we can expect it to go for the Global NCAP test soon. Based on the W601 platform, this all-new SUV will be able to score at least a 4-star rating as stated by the company’s official.
