Safety should be the top-most priority while buying a car and the recently launched Mahindra XUV700 is here to give everyone an unmatched experience. The SUV was recently tested in the Global NCAP and we are proud to tell you that it has scored a 5-star rating.

For starters, an entry-level variant with basic safety aids including twin airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS participated in this test. Talking about adult safety, Global NCAP confirms that the chest, head and neck was good. Meanwhile, the tibias were extremely safe with bodyshell staying stable.

Coming to the child’s safety, the testing agency used a rearward-facing ISOFIX mount that protected the dummy really well. According to the report, a four-star rating has been provided for child protection.

Immediately after the test, Alejandro Furas , Secretary-General, Global NCAP commented that “Mahindra has achieved a major milestone with this top score for adult protection and by becoming the first Indian made and owned brand to offer AEB as a safety option. Making this life-saving technology available is an important step in encouraging the widespread fitment of crash avoidance technologies.”

He even added, “Mahindra is one of the leading manufacturers in India, committed to improving their vehicles in response to Global NCAP’s call to democratise vehicle safety.” The testing agency also suggested that the availability of some optional equipment can further improve the overall safety.

Hector is a successful compact SUV in the segment and the Plus badging helps it to be more practical in the real world. Just like XUV700, even this one is available with either a 6 or a 7-seater layout. Under the hood, customers can find a mile muncher 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. However, it is also available with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit with overall output rated at 141BHP and 250Nm. Feature-wise, it is loaded with lots of goodies including a large panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, voice commands and a vertical 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system to name a few.
