MPVs are practical not just because they are available with the third row. Some credits even go to the slightly affordable price tags that make them really practical. To recall, Maruti Suzuki introduced Ertiga in India ten years ago and since then, the brand decided to never look back. It’s already been a decade and the MPV is still doing a great job. The only issue was that it required an update and thanks to Maruti Suzuki, the carmaker has always updated it on time. Coming back to the present, Ertiga has again been updated but this time, for MY2022 with a fresh front face and revamped engine. Are you someone planning to buy this new MPV? If yes, then let’s take a look at it down below.
- 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has made its debut in India.
- Available with a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
- Receives several cosmetic and feature upgrades for 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The front grille on the 2022 Ertiga is definitely going to remind you of what we have lately witnessed on the new Baleno. Surprisingly, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce similar kinds of grilles on the other models too. The side profile of the updated MPV now features dual-tone alloy wheels. Thankfully, a palette consisting of six shades, including two new has also been introduced.
Even the interior of the new Ertiga has gone through a significant update. For example, the dashboard now features a wooden finish that looks premium. Also, at the centre, a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been introduced with the “Hi Suzuki” command for an improved user experience.
The 2022 Ertiga is still equipped with roof-mounted air vents for proper cooling. Meanwhile, on the safety front, it has been loaded with 4 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, high-speed alert, brake assist, ABS and rear parking sensors to name a few.
Other than this, some basic features such as multiple storage spaces, cruise control, projector headlamps and a multifunction steering wheel are also a part of the equipment list.
Maruti Suzuki has also decided to introduce an updated powertrain on the new Ertiga. So, this time, it is a new K-Series 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine tuned to produce 102BHP and 136.8Nm of peak torque as standard. As we know, Ertiga is also available with a CNG powertrain, the overall output can be expected to fall slightly on these specific models.
An option to choose between a reliable 5-speed manual or an all-new 6-speed automatic gearbox is still there. However, for the first time, Maruti Suzuki has introduced paddle shifters but that’s only limited to the latter transmission setup.

The most interesting bit about the new Ertiga is that Maruti Suzuki is allowing you to use it through its Subscribe channel against a monthly subscription fee starting at Rs.18,600 onwards depending upon the model. The carmaker claims that the amount covers service, maintenance, roadside assistance as well as registration which makes it a hassle-free process altogether.
