Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet: What’s new?

Exterior & Design

The new Mercedes AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet is a quintessential convertible version of the already existing E-Class. From most of the angles, this cabriolet looks exactly like the sedan it takes inspiration from. However, to differentiate, the front end has been revised with the brand’s signature ‘Panamericana grille’ and sporty bumpers by enhancing the visual appeal. Running on 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, even the side profile is well calibrated.

The fabric roof that works as a hood in one touch is said to be available in four different shades. Thankfully, the body will be available with five colour schemes. Lastly, Mercedes also claims that the rear of the new E53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet has been updated with quad exhausts and sleeker LED taillamps.

The cabin of the cabriolet does not require any introduction as it is very similar to what the carmaker offers on the sedan. A wide running screen where both the instrument cluster and infotainment system sits is still there. Other features in the form of a neck heater, 64-colour ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, etc are there to make it a complete package.

There are two differences that are to be noticed in the new droptop performance car. The first one is an AIRCAP wind-noise management system and the second one is a virtual race engineer called AMG Track Pace.

Engine, Transmission and Performance

Powered by a 435 horsepower, 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine the all-new AMG E53 can clock a triple-digit speed in just 4.6 seconds. For that, the burst of power is not only limited to the ICE and that’s why an EQ Boost system churning out an additional 21 horses and 250Nm is also there to push the overall result. Mercedes has also confirmed that the carmaker has equipped the updated cabriolet with a 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and air suspensions for suitable grip at all times. The top speed of the same stands at 250kmph and for transmission duties, a 9-speed automatic gearbox has been introduced.

Will it be a grand success? Only time can tell but till then, keep reading The Indian Wire for similar updates.
