This might not be the first electric car from the German carmaker. Earlier, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the EQA and EQC globally. Then what is so crucial about this launch? Well, firstly, the debut of EQS will ultimately result in the debut of the brand’s dedicated EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) platform. To be precise, EQA and EQC were built on the same platform just like their internal combustion siblings. But, unlike them, the all-new EQS does not use the same underpinnings that we see on the S-Class.

As we know, Mercedes-Benz S-Class acts as a flagship sedan for the brand. Similarly, the all-new EQS will be the company’s front runner sedan for the electric lineup. Want to know more about the Mercedes-Benz EQS? For that, we have covered all the details for you.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the all-new EQ electric sedan globally.
  • It is available with a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of up to 770km.
  • Two powertrains producing 334HP and 523HP are available on the all-new EQS sedan.

Mercedes-Benz EQS

First thing first, the all-new EQS looks very similar to the EQS Vision concept that was revealed back in 2019. Another key highlight for this sedan is its length. Talking in numbers, Mercedes-Benz EQS is 5265mm long. Apart from this, it is 1926mm wide, 1512mm tall and comes with a 3210mm long wheelbase. According to the German brand, the all-new EQS gets a drag coefficient of 0.20 making it one of the most aerodynamic efficient electric car. The side profile of the sedan comes with large wheel arches and 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. Further, customers can also opt for alloy wheels ranging from 20-inch to 22-inch according to their own tastes and preferences.

Inside the cabin, the all-new electric sedan comes with Mercedes’s MBUX hyper screen. To be precise, this new screen stretches across the dashboard. Other features including augmented reality head-up display, four-wheel steering and large boot space among others continue to be a part of the Mercedes Benz EQS as well.

Multiple powertrains are available to choose from. Firstly, the EQS 450 gets a rear-mounted asynchronous electric motor that is capable of producing 334HP and 458Nm of torque. Next comes the EQS 580 that is equipped with motors on both axles. To be precise, it gets a four-wheel drive powertrain to produce 523HP and 856Nm of peak torque. Interestingly, both the variants are available with a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery. Well, that results in a massive range of up to 770kms as claimed by the WLTP test cycle.

In terms of performance, the EQS 450 variant can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 6.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the top-spec EQS 580 variant can do the same in just 4.3 seconds. Also, the top speed from both sedans stands at 210kmph.
