Stand and deliver. That’s what MG Motors do when it comes to any new offering. The carmaker has finally decided to enter the compact SUV market because of which they have to finally introduce the all-new Astor in India. Talking blatantly about the MG Astor, it comes with several first in segment features including a personal AI assistant and Level-2 ADAS system but depending upon the variant.

Exterior
In terms of design, it looks premium with a new set of LED headlamps, radiator grille, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, muscular bonnet hood and a sportier rear bumper. The British brand claims that the new Astor is around 4323mm long, 1809mm wide and 1650mm tall.
Interior
MG Motors is definitely known for the fit and finish it offers. Inside the cabin, the all-new Astor comes with three different shades including – Sangria Red (dual tone), Iconic Ivory (dual tone) and Tuxedo Black (monotone). A new three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel further enhances the user-friendly environment inside. Other features such as a panoramic sunroof, a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, etc. are also there to make it feature-rich.
There’s even a first-in-segment feature in the form of an AI assistant that can be used to chit-chat or maybe ask for vital information from trusted sources such as Wikipedia.
ADAS
The all-new Astor has recently scored a 5-star in ASEAN NCAP. However, for added practicality, it comes with L-2 ADAS that includes – Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Prevention, etc. to name a few.
Engine & Transmission
Under the hood, MG Astor uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. According to the brand, this unit is capable of churning out a massive 110HP and a peak torque of 144Nm. There’s even a powerful 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Overall output from it is currently rated at 140HP and 220Nm.
Transmission duties for the naturally aspirated motor are managed by a manual or an 8-speed CVT gearbox. Similarly, it is the turbo model that will feature a sole 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, to adjust the steering response there are three modes including – Normal, Urban and Dynamic.
