MG Hector Shine
What does it offer?
Initially, MG Hector was available in four variants including – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. However, the introduction of the Shine variant will now turn this list to five and to be precise, this new variant is here to sit between the Super and Smart variants.
Feature-wise, it is expected to pack some crucial features such as a single pane sunroof, push-button start-stop, keyless entry and electric parking brake. Customer who further wants to enhance the overall practicality can opt for the accessory pack that comes with 3D floor mats, wireless phone charger, air purifier and sunshades among others.
With the introduction of this new variant, MG Motors has also introduced the Havana Grey exterior shade for Hector. Surprisingly, this paint scheme will not be available with the entry-level Style variant.
Engine
Under the hood, the new Shine variant is available with both 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The overall output from the first one is rated at 143HP and 250Nm while being mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The latter one on the other hand is truly capable of churning out a massive 170HP and 350Nm of torque with only a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Just to note, the Shine variant will not be available with a hybrid powertrain. In fact, the brand has decided no to offer a dual-clutch gearbox for cost-cutting.
