MG ZS To Launch In IndiaImage Source: Autocar India

MG Motors already offers ZS EV in India which is a fully electric SUV by the British carmaker. However, the Petrol variant of the MG ZS has been spied multiple times while testing on the road. Hence, we expect MG Motors to unveil the all-new MG ZS petrol version in India soon.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • MG Motors is all set to introduce a petrol variant of the MG ZS.
  • MG ZS Petrol variant was recently spied while testing.
  • Two petrol engines will be offered on the upcoming MG ZS.

Minor cosmetic updates are there on the ZS petrol variant to make it look different when compared to its electric counterpart. Further, the SUV pack multiple features such as LED projector headlamps, alloy wheels, redesigned front grille, etc. among others.

Inside the cabin, the petrol variant somehow looks different when compared to the MG ZS EV. However, features such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, flat-bottom steering wheel and a semi-digital instrument cluster are there on the ZS.

The engine that is expected to power the MG ZS is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated motor. It is capable of churning out 118BHP of power and a peak torque of 150Nm. However, a more powerful 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also there that produces 161BHP of power and 230Nm of torque. Transmission duties for the 1.5-litre NA engine will be handled by a five-speed manual gearbox. Whereas, for the turbocharged petrol engine, MG Motors will offer either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a torque converter.

When launched, the MG ZS will directly go head-on against the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and other similar-sized SUVs. Recently, MG Motors has launched the 2021 Hector and Hector Plus. Apart from this, the British carmaker is all set to expand its portfolio in India.
