Due to the COVID-19 outbreak which is still ongoing. Many carmakers faced huge losses.

The Mitsubishi Motor Corporation faced a 10% drop in sales due to the ongoing pandemic. The losses are the highest in the last 18 years in the Southeast Asian Market. The company has forecasted a loss of around $1.33 billion till 31 March 2021.

Therefore, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation has decided to stop the manufacturing of the Mitsubishi Pajero 4X4. Mitsubishi already stopped the production of the Mitsubishi Pajero for the homeland Japan. But in the Gifu Prefecture of Skhogi, which is in Japan still produces the Mitsubishi Pajero for the export purpose. Mitsubishi is now planning to close even this plant.

The Mitsubishi Pajero was first showcased in 1981, Tokyo Motor Show. However, in 1992 around 1,74,708 vehicles were manufactured and sold.

Now, the Mitsubishi Motor Corporation focuses on the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs).

According to the sources, many new investments in the Mitsubishi Motor Corporation have taken place after the company is working under the HMCL in India. In the year 2018, Mitsubishi Outlander was launched which again failed while establishing a market for itself. The SUV was priced at around ₹32 lakhs (ex-showroom price). The prices again slashed by around ₹5 lakhs, but the sales remained low.

Mitsubishi to launch Eclispse and Eclipse Cross to rival against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Nissan Kicks. Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eclipse Cross to be powered by a Nissan-Renault 1.3L turbo petrol engine. The 1.3L turbo petrol also powers the Nissan Kicks BS6 variant.
