Check out both – the Yaris and Ciaz down below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Toyota has finally discontinued the Yaris for the Indian market.
  • Might be replaced by a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ciaz really soon.
  • Will continue offering parts for at least 10 years down the line.

Toyota Yaris

First launched back in 2018, Yaris looked like a ‘Baby Corolla’ back then. From the very beginning, it was only available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a manual as well as a CVT gearbox. However, not giving customers the freedom to choose a powertrain of their choice also lead to the downfall of the Toyota Yaris.

The latest model just before the discontinuation offered a variety of features. To be precise, it was available with a rear sunshade, rain-sensing wipers, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, touchscreen infotainment system, 7 airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels and LED headlamps with DRLs to name a few.

According to the sources, the upcoming C-segment sedan from Toyota will be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The latest report states that Toyota has filed an application to trademark the ‘Belta’ moniker for its upcoming sedan. Want to learn more about the Ciaz? Here are the details down below.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz became the fastest mid-size sedan to clock a 3 Lakh unit sales since its inception. Available with a sole 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a decent 105HP and 138Nm of peak torque, the new Ciaz remains similar to the Yaris in terms of options.

In terms of features, Maruti Suzuki offers some basic facilities such as a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control and an analogue instrument cluster with MID. A new SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system also sits proudly at the centre with all sorts of vital information required by the occupants. For their safety, Ciaz is only available with dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and ABS with EBD.

On the outside, Ciaz looks sportier with a set of projector LED headlamps, fog lamp housing, stylish bumpers and large 16-inch alloy wheels. Additional accessories such as a rear spoiler can also be purchased for an enhanced stance. Since Ciaz will be renamed as Belta just like the brand replaced Vitara Brezza with Urban Cruiser and Baleno with Glanza. Therefore, we can expect similar features and powertrain from the upcoming sedan as well.
