Exterior & Design

Starting with the underpinnings, the all-new Taigun comes with a localised version of the world-class MQB AO platform. Well, that’s the major reason why we can expect a good ride and handling from it. The front profile proudly comes with the brand’s new logo, grille, headlamps and a reprofiled bumper. Apart from all this, it runs on new alloy wheels that help to all-new SUV to stand out in terms of design.

Just like Skoda Kushaq, the upcoming Taigun feels very premium with minimum clutter inside the cabin. Some of the panels available on the dashboard are new for the Taigun and to be precise, it comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multiple Type-C USB ports, multifunctional steering wheel, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, wireless charger and a fully digital instrument cluster depending upon the variant.

For an airy atmosphere inside, Volkswagen offers a single pane electric sunroof on the new SUV.

Safety Aids

With the German build quality, Volkswagen Taigun comes packed with several features for occupants safety. To begin with, the list includes six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS, ESC and ISOFIX child seat mounts to name a few.

Engine & Powertrain

Powering the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun is a potent 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The overall output from this unit is rated at 150HP and 250Nm but as expected, this motor will be reserved for the top-end variants.

For the entry-level variants, Volkswagen will offer a fuel efficient 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that churns out a decent 115HP and 178Nm of peak torque. Interestingly, both the engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox but for added convenience, Volkswagen has decided to offer a 6-speed torque convertor (1.0-litre TSI) and 7-speed DSG with the 1.5-litre TSI engine.
