Without a doubt, the upcoming SUV does feel premium but what excites everyone the most is that it will be an affordable Skoda to own. To begin with, VW Group was somehow struggling in India with a relatively higher price tag for their offerings. Of course, the build quality was world-class, but it seems that it was not enough for the customers to put their bet upon. In the end, a well put together package would rather be a better option for anyone.

We know, localisation was much required to keep a check in price. Therefore, VW Group came up with INDIA 2.0 strategy and a highly localised platform named MQB A0 IN to make a grand return in the Indian market. As a result, we now have the all-new Skoda Kushaq in front of us and to be precise, it has received around 95 per cent of localisation. Without a doubt, it will be more accessible to the masses with a comparatively lower price tag.

What can we expect from the upcoming Skoda Kushaq?

Firstly, Skoda Kushaq will be available in three different variants including – Active, Ambition and Style. Further, to differentiate, the top-end Style variant will get a set of large 17-inch chunky alloy wheels. Also, the other two are expected to come with smaller wheels on offer.

The cabin of the upcoming SUV does get rich fabrics and materials. Similarly, in terms of features, it will get a slick touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, multiple USB-C ports, ambient lighting, wireless charger and a two-spoke steering wheel will be there according to the variant selected.

The Czech carmaker will offer several colour shades for the Skoda Kushaq. To name them, the palette will surely consist of Tornado Red, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Honey Orange and Carbon Steel.

The details regarding its powertrain are confirmed. Two engines including 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol unit will be there to power the all-new Kushaq. Talking in numbers, the first one produces 115HP and 175Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The latter one on the other hand churns out a massive 150HP and 250Nm of torque. For transmission duties, a six-speed manual gearbox will be there as standard. However, customers who wish to opt for a 7-speed DSG gearbox can do that as well.

Skoda Kushaq Vs. Competitors

Using the same MQB A0 IN platform, the German brand will soon introduce the Volkswagen Taigun for the Indian market. Currently, Kia Seltos (Rs.9.95 Lakhs to Rs.17.65 Lakhs*), Hyundai Creta (Rs.9.99 Lakhs to Rs.17.70 Lakhs*) and MG Hector (Rs.13.17 Lakhs to Rs.18.85 Lakhs*) will be competing against the likes of Skoda Kushaq.
