‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, have you ever heard this phrase before? Well, this time, BMW is applying this strategy on the Z4 and that is the only reason why the changes on the roadster are minimal. The Indian leg of the German marque has announced its launch in India as a CBU unit resulting in a hefty price tag of Rs.89.30 Lakhs (ex-showroom, pan India).

The 2023 BMW Z4 is expected to get delivered to its customers from June onwards. However, before going ahead, let’s take a look at the details related to the drop-top BMW below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 2023 BMZ Z4 has finally made its debut in India.
  • The sports car will be available here as a CBU unit.
  • Powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine.

BMW Z4: Is It All About Driving Pleasure?

Exterior & Design

It isn’t a regular BMW, thanks to the two-door sports car body style and the introduction of a retractable roof. So if you are someone expecting practicality from this one, it won’t make much sense to you.

BMW claims it is a driver’s car where with one push of a button, he/she can drop the roof within ten seconds. How cool is that! Now, what else is cool about the 2023 Z4 M40i is the introduction of a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels. It feels like BMW has tried to give it a fresh touch. Other than this, one minor change in the form of a new blacked-out grille flanked by LED headlamps also infuse some more freshness to the new model when compared to the outgoing Z4.

Engine & Performance

BMW has decided to continue offering the new Z4 M40i with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged, in-line six-cylinder engine. Meaning it now produces a massive 340 horsepower and 500Nm while being paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with power channelled to rear wheels. As a result, the roadster is said to clock a triple-digit speed in an impressive 4.5 seconds.

In addition to this, Z4 M40i also features an adaptive edition specific suspension, differential and brakes. Thankfully, all of them are manufactured by BMW’s Performance oriented leg called M, helping the performance quotient to reach newer heights. Other than this, the roadster also gets launch control, three drive modes and cruise control to ensure safety and peak performance at all stages.

Interior & Features

Just like what we witnessed outside, the changes inside are also subtle. With a new theme featuring leather and Alcantara, the cabin of the updated Z4 gives an upmarket feel. However, the steering wheel and M Sport Seats that are offered are quite similar to the pre-update model.

Feature-wise, it is amply loaded and to list a few, the new roadster now features a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with BMW’s latest iDrive 7.0 OS as standard. Other than this, it also comes equipped with dual-zone climate control, four airbags, a fully digital driver’s display and ambient lighting among others.

To offer an unmatched experience to its customers, BMW is also providing a Harman Kardon surround sound system, head-up display, brand’s park assist, etc but as an optional accessory.

Rival

In India, BMW Z4 locks horns against the Porsche 718 Boxster since it is also a convertible sports car.
