The wait is over, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 that made its debuts in the EICMA 2017 is said to release by July 2018. Seems like the wait is almost over, the launch of the bike is expected to take place in the European markets first and then multiple markets all around the globe. The Royal Enfield continental GT650 made its debut along with another bike that is the Indian-bound Interceptor 650 motorcycle.

The continental is powered by the company’s new 650cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine with an oil cooler for enhanced performance. The motor claims to deliver 47 PS power at 7100 rpm and a torque of 52 Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine of the bike is said to have a low and a mid-range performance and retains the Royal Enfield character of accessible torque through the rev range. The gearbox of the bike seems to have been increased in size by its slip/assist clutch that helps in easy riding through traffic and it also prevents wheel-hop when downshifting gears.

The team of Royal Enfield UK Technology Centre and Harris Performance the chassis has been developed from the ground up. The bike has been fine-tuned for better agility that can handle multiple types of terrains and can speed with ease and at the same time retains its classic style. The Continental GT, when compared to the interceptor 650 Twin, is slight shorter. Breaking duties on the motorbike is handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.

The continental GT650 is said to be launched along with another bike that is the RE Interceptor 650. Both the bikes are quite similar but yet different. While the Continental GT is a café-racer and looks pretty similar to the existing continental GT 535 as it retains the same headlamps and many other elements from its previous version. The rear side has gone through certain changes including the new dual side exhaust muffler.

The price range of the 650 twins is although not specified, yet is expected to range anywhere from 3 lakhs to 3.5 lakhs. Both the interceptor 650 and the continental 650 will be available in different colors and in two distinct styles, standard custom and retro custom.
