Automotive industry was one of the worst-hit industries due to the ongoing pandemic. There are several examples of revival but the most interesting one is the luxury car segment. Take Mercedes India for instance, the brand has already sold around 4857 units altogether in the first half of 2021. Surprisingly, when compared to the first half of 2020, the same figures were somewhere around 2948 units. We have witnessed the German rivalry flourishing in India therefore, Audi is all set to expand its portfolio with full force. The carmaker has recently announced to launch the new Audi RS5 Sportback on 9th August and this time as a proper 4-door sedan.

Exterior

As per the brand, the new RS5 Sportback is a facelifted version of the old model. In terms of updates, the performance sedan now features a new pair of LED headlamps, redesigned bumper and a set of 19-inch chunky alloy wheels as standard. Customers who wish to opt for the larger ones can go for the 20-inch wheels as optional.

Interior

Not much has changed inside as the new Audi RS5 Sportback continues to get a driver-centric layout. To be precise, the brand will continue to offer a multi-functional RS steering wheel, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and a standing 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system even on the updated sportscar.

The RS sport seats with Alcantara finishing will continue to serve the Audi performance cars for a premium touch. Also, the centre console will no longer feature the rotary dial.

Engine

Powering the all-new Audi RS5 Sportback is a potent 2.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine which is now compliant with the BS6 emission norms. The overall output from this setup is rated at 450HP and 600Nm while being paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the brand’s Quattro system as standard.

Talking about the performance, this new sportscar can clock a triple-digit speed in just 3.9 seconds. Sadly, the top speed is limited to 250kmph without the RS Package. With this optional package, the speed limit can be exceeded up to 280kmph.

Expected Price

The Coupe version of the same that was launched back in 2018 was priced at Rs.1.1 Crore. If talking about the upcoming RS5 Sportback, expect the German carmaker to price it between Rs.1.4 Crores and Rs.1.55 Crores (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

BMW simultaneously revealed the new M3 and M4 Competition last year with a new design language. The new BMW M3 Competition now features a large kidney grille at the front that works even as the air intake for proper cooling. To power the new M3, a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine is there to churn out a massive 510HP and 650Nm of peak torque. Interestingly, inside the cabin, it features ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear view camera and a large BMW Live Cockpit among others.
