Heard something like ‘performance car on a budget?’ For many car enthusiasts, Octavia RS245 play that role. It is a sedan that is practical, power-packed and well-calibrated as per the Indian conditions. Further, for many years it was even a value for money deal as well. However, this time Skoda launched the Octavia RS245 as a CBU unit and thus it was priced at a premium of Rs.35.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Not to forget, only a lot of 200 units was available for the Indian market. But the carmaker still failed to sell all of them.

Finally, just to wipe off the existing stock, Skoda has announced a discount of upto Rs.8 Lakhs on the Skoda Octavia RS245. But does this deal makes sense now? Is it better than the next generation Octavia? Here we are straightaway heading to answer that.

Skoda Octavia RS245

First thing first, Skoda Octavia RS245 comes powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol motor. The power figures from this engine stand at 245HP and 370Nm of torque while being mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. Curious to know about its performance numbers? Well, to be precise, it can do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.6 seconds.

Feature-wise, it is well packed with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, sportier seats finished in Alcantara leather and rear AC vents to name a few. Additionally, the infotainment display on the Octavia RS gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link as a medium of smartphone connectivity.

Just like other features. Skoda Octavia is filled upto the brim with safety features as well. The list includes nine airbags (including knee units for the driver), ESC, ABS, brake assist, multi-collision brakes, etc. If someone thinks that this sedan is not practical. Then be ready to change your entire perspective towards this car. In terms of dimensions, it is 4689mm long and comes with a wheelbase that is 2677mm in length. As claimed by Skoda, the boot space of Octavia RS245 is 590 litre which makes it the most practical sedan in its segment.

Alternatives

In India, the regular Skoda Octavia goes head-on against the likes of Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic. Also, in terms of price, Skoda Octavia RS245 used to compete with entry-level luxury sedans such as BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
