Skoda Kodiaq is a rare sight on Indian roads, but it has garnered high demand among buyers who prefer premium SUVs. The Czech brand confirmed that it has again rolled out the SUV in India, with a price tag starting at Rs. 37.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and sadly, there is a hike of up to Rs. 1.4 Lakhs but with some minor updates.

To meet the rising demand, Skoda has allotted 750 units (per quarter) of Kodiaq for the Indian market, representing an increase from previous years.

Exterior and Design

The design of the new Kodiaq is in line with the last model that was sold out in no time. To be precise, an edgy front end with sleek headlamps, muscular bonnet hood, radiator grille and massive air dams help the overall design to a great extent. The side profile on the other hand is balanced and offers a mix between a station wagon and SUV. At the rear, it is familiar and is slapped with a ‘SKODA’ badge like what we have witnessed in the past.

In addition to this, the 2023 Kodiaq is added with new door protectors and a revised rear spoiler.

Price (Ex-showroom, Delhi) Rs.37.99 Lakhs Rs.39.39 Lakhs Rs.41.39 Lakhs

Interior & Features

Inside the cabin, the updated SUV feels plush and is loaded with several useful features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electrically adjustable front seats, a large panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Canton surround system and ambient lighting to name a few. The top-end L&K variant is one step ahead with heated and ventilated seats as standard.

Kodiaq is a family SUV and considering that, Skoda is hoping that buyers will be using all seven seats more frequently. So, assuming seven occupants in total and for them nine airbags, the ratio is good enough to keep them safe. The Czech automaker is also particular about other safety measures. To name a few, the updated SUV comes equipped with brake assist, electronic stability control and multi-collision braking among others.

Engine & Transmission

Another major update to be noted is the BS6 Phase-2 compliant engine. It’s the same old 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI engine, capable of producing 190 horsepower and 320Nm of peak torque.

Mechanically, the 2023 Kodiaq remains untouched, and to be precise, there is a 7-speed DCT and 4×4 system available as standard across the range.

On the performance front, the SUV is capable of doing a 0-100kmph sprint in 7.8 seconds. Notably, the latest emission norm policy has no major impact on performance.

Rivals

With such a hefty price tag, Skoda Kodiaq locks its horn with other full-size SUVs including Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Jeep Meridian.
