Skoda has removed the Skoda Rapid Rider from its official website due to its overwhelming demand. However, the company has announced that this move is temporary and the Czech carmaker will return with the Skoda Rapid Rider soon. The only motive for the discontinuation is the lack of production capacity and extreme demand in India.

  • Ambition
  • Onyx
  • Style and
  • Monte Carlo

The Rider variant earlier, used to come with an audio player with USB, AUX-IN and Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensor, ABS, front airbags, remote locking, adjustable steering wheels, automatic climate control, etc.

However, Skoda has recently launched another entry-level variant for an additional Rs.50,000 called the Skoda Rapid Rider Plus. Apart from this, the additional feature that the Rider Plus variant include is a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Meanwhile, this new infotainment system supports Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.

Under the hood, Skoda Rapid Rider comes with a 1.0L, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 108BHP of power with a peak torque of 175Nm. Apart from this, the engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. This same engine powers the BS6 compliant Volkswagen Vento as well.

In India, Skoda Rapid rivals against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris. Skoda will return with the Rider variant soon. However, it will only be possible after the delivery of the present orders.
