HIGHLIGHTS:

  • SSC Tuatara becomes the world’s fastest production vehicle.
  • The hypercar has smashed all the previous records by Koenigsegg Agera RS.

SSC Tuatara has recently bagged the title of the world’s fastest production car. At an event held on 10th October at an 11.26 km stretch, Tuatara broke almost all the records. This stretch is located near Pahrump, Nevada. Meanwhile, the event took place under a professional driver Oliver Webb.

The top speed was recorded by the Dewetron GPS system. This GPS tracks the speed using an average of 15 satellites. Meanwhile, for the world record, the top speed runs were done in opposite direction within one hour. The other criteria was that the run should be completed on the same road.

Records by SSC Tuatara:

  • “Highest Speed on a Public Road” – 532 kmph
  • “Fastest Flying Kilometre on a Public Road” – 517.16 kmph
  • “Fastest Flying Mile on a Public Road” – 503.92 kmph (313.12 mph)

What powers the world’s fastest production vehicle?
The engine that powers the SSC Tuatara is a 5.9-litre twin-turbo, V8 engine. Meanwhile, this engine produces a massive 1750HP of total output using the E85 fuel. The engine for producing such massive output comes paired to a 7-speed robotized manual transmission. However, with the 91 Octane petrol, the same engine produces 1350HP of power.

Oliver while speaking about the record also said that “The car has more to give”. This ultimately states that in the near future SSC Tuatara might break its own record as well.
