Supreme Court has allowed the registration of the BS4 vehicles. After the introduction to BS6 emission norms, the apex court is strict about the registration of the BS4 vehicles.

But now, Supreme Court has allowed the registration of the BS4 vehicles which were sold in the month of March. Certain BS4 compliant vehicles were not registered due to the lockdown which was implemented due to the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19.

On July 8, the Supreme Court recalled the decision of March 17 which allowed the sales of the BS4 compliant vehicle for 10 days across the nation, except Delhi.

In an affidavit filed by the Supreme Court, asking the Government of India to submit the details of the BS4 vehicles that were sold in the month of March. The E-Vahan Portal data and the data provided by the Automobile Dealer Association were counter checked.

The BS4 vehicles that were sold before 25th March will be registered without any issue. Meanwhile, the data available on the Vahan as well as Non-Vahan states are out now. According to the data, overall 9,56,015 units of BS4 units were sold till 31st March. However, the data by the Automobile Dealer Association shows a lesser number of 9,01,223 units sold.

The Supreme Court also stated that 39,000 vehicles have been sold after the lockdown.
