One interesting fact about this new DCT gearbox is that Tata claims that this entire new gearbox is a tried and tested product keeping in mind the harsh climate and road conditions in India. The developers also state that they have introduced an active cooling function and that’s how this new DCT, is currently India’s most advanced gearbox unit.

Alternatives
The premium hatchback segment is growing at a tremendous rate in India. However, apart from the new Altroz, it is the Hyundai i20 that comes with a DCT gearbox. The only problem with this hatchback is that it costs much more than the Altroz. Looking for an alternative to the Altroz? Here’s take a look at the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno down below.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Lots of first in segment features, better packaging and even safer than ever. Well, this is how Maruti Suzuki is still managing to keep Baleno at the top of the sales chart.
Under the hood, the hatchback is still powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is capable enough of churning out a decent 90PS and 113Nm. Meanwhile, for transmission duties, Maruti Suzuki has deployed either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Feature-wise, it comes loaded with automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a head-up display to name a few.
