Tata launched its most awaited hatchback Tata Altroz after a long wait. The introductory price of Tata Altroz was ₹5.29 lakhs onwards. However, now Tata has announced a price hike of the Tata Altroz by ₹15,000.

Tata today released the revised price list of the Tata Altroz trim. The entry-level Altroz XE diesel price remains unchanged while the price of the other variants is introduced to a price hike now.

The price of the Tata Altroz XE petrol, XM, XT, and XZ received a price hike of ₹15,000. Meanwhile, the top-spec variant of Tata Altroz XZ(O) both petrol and diesel is now costlier by ₹6,000. The XZ(O) diesel which is the top variant of the Altroz trim will now cost ₹9.35 lakhs. However, the base variant price remains unchanged at ₹6.99 lakhs.

Tata will continue to offer the same customization packs with the Tata Altroz XE, XM, XT, and XZ. The company offers a wide variety of customization changes on the Tata Altroz named the Style, Urban, Rhythm, and Luxe. However, the mid-spec XT variant of the Tata Altroz will now be available with the Automatic Climate Control feature.

Tata also announced that the price changes of the Altroz trim have nothing to do with the features on offer. The features offered with a particular variant will be the same as before.

Tata Altroz already rivals the fairly priced Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza in the Indian market while the updated Honda Jazz is yet to arrive. Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza are also available with a CVT transmission on which Tata is still working. The hike in price might not be a good decision for Tata Motors at this point.
