Tata Motors brand new SUV, Nexon will soon be going to hit the business floors. The SUV which was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, is all set to launch this year before Diwali. Ahead of its roll out, the company has introduced two new engines and a gearbox for the upcoming car.

The new powertrains include a 1.2-litre petrol from the Revotron series and a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Revotorq family. These motors are performance-oriented and will offer higher fuel efficiency and performance. These engines are designed in Pune and have been indigenously developed with inputs from renowned global technology supplier like AVL, Bosch, Mahale, and Honeywell.

According to the company reports, the Revotron engines will be manufactured at the Sanand facility while the Revotorq engines will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility.

Mayank Pareek, president of the passenger vehicles business unit at Tata Motors, said:”We are confident that this new family of engines will further help us build our brand and deliver a memorable experience on-road”. He added that the new engines will be light in weight and low on friction, delivering high performance and fuel economy.

The four-cylinder diesel engine will offer a maximum power of 110 ps at 3,750 rpm, and a maximum torque of 260 Nm at 1,500-27,50 rpm, while the three-cylinder petrol engine offers a maximum power of 110 ps at 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 170 Nm at 2,000-4,000 rpm. The new transmission TA6300  offers synchromesh with overdrive and comes with six forward gears and one reverse.
