Tata Motors has achieved a new milestone this year as the company has already sold around 2,529 units of Tata Nexon EV in India. This covers almost 63.2% of the electric vehicle market share for the FY 2020. Meanwhile, for the same year, rivals such as MG ZS EV was only able to bag around 1,142 units of total sale. Whereas, Hyundai sold around 223 units of Kona EV and that has contributed around 5.6% of the market share.

Tata Nexon EV: Quick Overview

Tata Nexon EV is one of the most selling electric cars in India just because of the practicality it offers. Powered by a 30.2 kWh battery the permanent magnet synchronous motor it can churn out a massive 129HP alongside a peak torque of 245Nm. Further, performance-wise, Tata Nexon EV can easily do a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 9.9 seconds with a top speed limited to 120 kmph.

Charging this all-new EV is not at all a big task. It can be fully juiced up using a regular 15A plug point in around 8 hours. Meanwhile, using a fast charger it requires around 60 minutes to go from 0-80%. Apart from this, when fully charged, Tata Nexon EV offers a range of 312km as claimed by the ARAI.

Features

Coming to the features, Tata Nexon EV has alot to offer with automatic wipers, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic headlamps, electric sunroof, rear AC vents and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system among others. Meanwhile, the infotainment system offered now supports Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.

Tata Nexon has recently scored a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP. Meanwhile, Nexon EV shares the same platform with the regular one and hence is claimed to be one of the safest EVs in India. However, for enhanced safety, Tata Nexon comes equipped with dual airbags, rear parking camera, ISOFIX child seats, ABS, etc.

Alternatives

Right now, Tata Nexon EV directly rivals the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona. However, MG Motors India is planning to introduce a more affordable electric car that will directly counter the Nexon EV, in terms of price. MG ZS EV for now comes with a price tag of Rs.20.88 Lakh onwards.
