Safari branding holds a rich past and if talking about the present, it is currently one of the best selling seven-seater SUVs in India. Now, frankly speaking, people usually don’t prefer black colour for their vehicles as it is more prone to dust but Tata Motors still did an amazing job with the Dark Edition. The carmaker has finally decided to offer a similar edition on the all-new Safari and interestingly, it is going to cost you between Rs.19.05 Lakhs and Rs.22.51 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tata Safari Dark Edition
What’s new?
On the outside, several changes can be noticed but the most prominent one is the new colour shade called Oberon Black. We have already witnessed this colour scheme on the Harrier Dark Edition and that’s why for some people it won’t be that new.
To make this Dark Edition more exciting, the panels that were earlier finished in chrome or gold (Gold Edition) now features a chrome black shade. The massive 18-inch alloy wheels are also finished with the same shade and that’s why they look even more appealing.
Dashboard of the Safari Dark Edition looks very similar to the same version of Harrier. However, to improve the overall ambience, Tata Motors has just introduced the ‘Blackstone Matrix’ finishing.
The Dark Edition is based on XT+ and XZ+ variants and therefore, it is available with lots of features, including a panoramic sunroof, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, JBL surround sound system, air purifier and a semi-digital instrument cluster to name a few.
Engine
Just like the other variants, the all-new Dark Edition comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. As per the brand, this motor churns out a massive 170PS of power and 350Nm of peak torque. Thankfully, Tata Motors is offering it with both a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox.
Alternatives
In India, Tata Safari compares with some other seven-seater SUVs, including MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar. Want to learn more about the former one? Let’s check out the new Hector Plus right here.
MG Hector Plus
Hector was already a great product but in terms of practicality, it is Hector Plus that outperforms the regular model. Unlike Safari, it is available with two engine options, including a 141BHP, 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which is exactly similar to what Tata offers on the Harrier and of course, the Safari.
Feature-wise, MG Hector Plus is loaded with a large panoramic sunroof, voice commands, smart swipe gesture for tailgate and a massive 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system among others. For more details related to it, click here.
