Swift Vs Tiago

Low-quality materials and inappropriate fit and finishing can be one of the reasons behind more damage during accidents. On the other hand, factors such as speed, force and time of impact also play their specific roles during such kinds of incidents. Rash driving cannot be justified by the quality of material used by the manufacturer and therefore, as a community, we urge everyone to drive safe and wear their seatbelts. Coming back to the comparison, we are finally here with the Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki Swift.

The brand came up with the idea of Swift back in 2002 at the Paris Motor Show. In 2004, it was again showcased at the Auto Expo while Maruti Suzuki finally slated its launch for the Indian market the very next year. It was a perfect hatchback at that time, providing acres of space inside the cabin while being fuel-efficient. At least, that’s what people demanded in 2005.

Currently, the latest Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with a sole 1.2-litre K Series DualJet petrol engine that is good for a decent 88.5BHP and 113Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties for this setup are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, customers who want added convenience can go for the automatic transmission that demands Rs.50,000 extra.

Feature-wise, it is sufficiently loaded. The list starts with cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, fog lights and electrically adjustable wing mirrors just to name a few.

Talking about safety, the new Swift has scored a 2-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Just for the information, it comes with dual front airbags, crash sensor, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, hill assist and speed alert among others. More details related to the GNCAP test here:

The most exciting part about Tiago is its pricing. Currently, the hatchback comes priced between Rs.4.99 Lakhs to Rs.6.95 Lakhs which makes it an absolute value for money deal. The new Tiago is a successor of the well-known Indica Vista and Bolt that was discontinued due to lack of demand.

Under the hood, Tata Tiago features a sole 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that churns out 84.48BHP and 113Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The brand also offers an automatic unit which is again available at a premium pricing.

Coming to the features, it gets a manually height adjustable seat, fully digital instrument cluster, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman Kardon, fog lamps, multi-functional steering wheel, powered wing mirrors, rear window wiper, etc among others.

Both Tata Tiago and Tigor has scored a 4-star rating at the Global NCAP with safety aids such as dual airbags, ABS, crash sensor and seat belt warning available as standard. More details on the GNCAP crash test here:
