Tata Motors has recently announced that it will reveal the upcoming Tata Gravitas production variant on 26th January 2021. The all-new 7-seater SUV was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and was expected to launch on the similar FY. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the unveil was delayed.

Based on the OMEGA ARC platform that is derived from Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform the all-new Tata Gravitas is 63mm longer than the Tata Harrier. Further, it is 80 mm taller and comes with a 2741mm wheelbase that stands similar to what Harrier offers.

Inside the cabin, the all-new Tata Gravitas will remain more or less remain the same as the Tata Harrier. However, the upcoming SUV might get an optional 6-seater or a 7-seater layout. Further, features such as JBL surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster among others are expected to remain the same.

The engine that is expected to power the upcoming Tata Gravitas is a 2.0L turbo diesel motor. It is the same engine that powers the Tata Harrier and let’s hope the power delivery will remain the same. Meanwhile, this Kryotec 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine churns out 170PS of power and a peak torque of 350Nm. Being on the heavier side, the all-new SUV is expected to return less mileage. Further, the weight might hamper the performance as well. For transmission duties, it will get either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a torque converter.

In India, Tata Gravitas will go against the likes of MG Hector Plus and the next generation Mahindra XUV500.
