Toyota cars are reliable and even the Camry has proved it time and again. The Japanese brand just trying to keep its Indian portfolio updated has launched the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid with a price tag starting at Rs.41.70 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

As the carmaker itself is promoting the updated sedan as a luxurious and powerful product, we are glad to tell you that Toyota has retained the old powertrain on the updated Camry as well.

Starting from the outside, the 2022 Camry Hybrid is now available with a slightly refreshed front fascia. Let’s get more into the details and to begin with, it now features a brand new grille and a revamped bumper. Sadly, the headlights are exactly the same and therefore, it does look more or less similar to the outgoing model.

To enhance the side profile, Toyota has introduced a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Thankfully, the taillights are also new and it does glow better when compared to the older ones. There’s even a new exterior shade named Metal Stream Metallic for MY2022.

Inside the cabin, a massive 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system has made its debut. The brand just to offer added practicality has decided to offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on this updated screen. To enhance the sound experience, the 2022 Camry Hybrid will also be featuring a 9-speaker JBL surround sound system.

Engine

Toyota has decided to use the exact same powertrain on the updated model as well. To be precise, the 2022 Camry is available with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine assisted by a mild hybrid system.

The overall output from this setup is rated at 218 horsepower while being paired to a CVT gearbox as standard. Interestingly, as claimed by the brand, the updated sedan is still capable of returning an impressive 23.27kmpl fuel efficiency.

Alternatives

With a massive price tag of Rs.41.70 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), it will compete against some entry-level luxury sedans, including Mercedes-Benz A-Class (Rs.41.55 Lakhs to Rs.43.58 Lakhs) and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (Rs.39.90 Lakhs to Rs.43.50 Lakhs).

Since Mercedes has decided to locally manufacture most of its products, the carmaker is able to price them aggressively. Starting with the price tag, the new A-Class Limousine is available for Rs.41.55 Lakhs to Rs.43.58 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is definitely at par with the all-new Camry Hybrid. The only problem is that both the sedans belong to entirely different segments.

Feature-wise, it is loaded up to the brim with automatic climate control, electric sunroof, wireless charging, electrically adjustable front seats and a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Thankfully, the new A-Class is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
