The new much awaited Toyota Yaris was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. Although releasing it in a highly competitive segment, Toyota will depend on the car’s safety, spaciousness and styling to give a hard time to competitors.

The design of the Toyota Yaris is similar to the  Corolla Altis albeit smaller in size. It gets an LED daylight running light and LED parking lights on the inside of the headlamp cluster. The Yaris comes with many features that are first in the segment like 7 airbags including knee and curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, disc brakes on all four wheels, front parking sensors and gesture controlled audio.

The Yaris works only on a 1.5 liter dual VVT-i petrol engine good enough for 108 BHP with the option of a six speed manual or seven speed CVT automatic. There is a possibility of a petrol hybrid engine at a later stage, Other features include ABS with EBD, stability control, alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, projector headlamps, touchscreen navigation, rear camera, cruise control and paddle shift on the CVT. The Yaris has been awarded five stars in the ASEAN NCAP safety test.

The Yaris will take on well established cars like the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The mid-variant of this car will get a start or stop ignition button and a lot of other features which are first in the segment.

The Toyota Yaris features a lot compared to its competitors and has some features which are available only in high-end cars. The manufacturing of this car will at Toyota’s plant in Karnataka. The plant will use a lot of parts locally.Depending on this information, we can say that the Toyota Yaris will be priced very competitively at a range of 8.4 lakhs to 23.5 lakhs (ex-showroom), lying below the price of Honda City which is from 8.7 lakhs to 13.7 lakhs.
