In the period extending from April 2017 to January 2018, the sales of Honda Motorcycles have crossed Rs. 50 Lakh units. All in all, 51,63,559 units were sold in this 10-month period. Scooter sales have grown by 20% and have crossed 30 Lakh mark whereas the motorcycles have grown by 23%. Honda sold off around 32,31,297 scooters in this period and at this time, the exports of Honda also grew by 27% thereby making Honda appear as the third largest two-wheeler exporter. As compared to January last year, this year the sales of Honda have risen by 33% from 3,89,313 units to 5,17,732 units. The scooter sales have grown by 40% from 2,28,811 units in January 2017 to 3,19,305 units in January 2018. Motorcycle sales too grew by 22% from 1,39,161 units to 1,69,505 units. Honda has added more than 9 Lakh customers and the sales too have crossed more than 5 million mark in the shortest time. Almost 50% of the two-wheeler demand has arisen from rural and semi-urban India and the budget of the year 2018 should have a positive impact on the customer sentiments stated the senior vice president of sales and marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria.
Exports of Honda have grown by more than 36% in January 2018 since the company has exported more than 28,923 units as compared to 21,341 units in January 2017. Honda Grazia, a new 125 cc scooter too was launched by Honda in 2017 and for 2018, a series of new products including an all-new scooter along with a new premium commuter motorcycle. Owing to the growth of the sales of two-wheelers of Honda, the expected growth in 2018 is going to rise by 33%.
