Inside the cabin, it features a neatly laid out dashboard with all sorts of modern features. To begin with, there is an all-new multi-functional steering wheel, large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and a fully digital instrument cluster depending upon the variant. Apart from all this, a wireless charger, multiple USB Type-C ports, an electric sunroof and a cooled glovebox are also there to make it feature-rich.

Germans are quite serious about the occupants’ safety. Therefore, Taigun comes loaded with safety aids such as 6 airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child seat mounts, etc among others.

Engine

Powering the all-new compact SUV is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. According to the spec sheet, the overall output from this unit is rated at 115HP and 175Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox available across the entire range. For added convenience, customers can also opt for a torque converter automatic gearbox available solely with this setup.

There’s another 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that is meatier in terms of performance. To be precise, it is truly capable of churning out a massive 150HP and 250Nm of peak torque while being mated to an optional 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox apart from the standard 6-speed manual. Volkswagen also boasts the cylinder deactivation technology that boosts the overall fuel efficiency.

Alternatives

In India, the all-new Volkswagen Taigun competes with some other well-established rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. Interestingly, the upcoming MG Astor is also expected to join this rivalry soon. Want to learn more about the Seltos? Check out all the details related to it down below.
