Earlier, Volvo announced that the Swedish carmaker will aim to go all-electric by 2030. And with this ambition in mind, the company has recently revealed the Volvo C40 Recharge Electric Coupe SUV. This all-new electric car shares most of its underpinnings with the XC40 P8 which was the first-ever EV by Volvo. Therefore, it will be the second electric production model by the Swedish carmaker to be launched globally.

Volvo C40 Recharge At A Glance

In terms of design, the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge does look like an SUV. However, with a sloping roofline and sleeker design language, one can easily mistake this EV for a hatchback. Also, Volvo C40 Recharge comes equipped with a typical EV grille that was earlier seen on the XC40 P8 as well. Inside the cabin, it will be the first Volvo car to be leather-free. Apart from this, the all-new SUV comes equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system that is powered by Google. Further, one can now access Google Playstore, Maps and all other services that are provided by the company with OTA updates.

So what powers the Volvo C40 Recharge? There is a 204HP electric motor available on each axle that powers this electric SUV. Further, these motors are capable of producing a massive 408HP and 660Nm of torque. In terms of performance, Volvo C40 Recharge can go from a standstill to 100kmph in just 4.9 seconds while the top speed stands at 180kmph.

According to Volvo, the C40 Recharge comes with a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery. Further, this battery offers a range of somewhere around 418km. For fast charging, customers can go for a 150kWh DC charger. This battery can also be charged at home while using an 11kWh AC charger.

Launch in India

Currently, the Swedish carmaker has not announced anything regarding its launch in India yet. However, Volvo will be introducing the XC40 P8 Recharge in India soon.

Audi first revealed its Q4 E-Tron at the Geneva Motor Show. Meanwhile, in terms of length, it is 4.95 meters long. The all-new Audi Q4 E-Tron will be available with two electric motors that are capable of producing a massive 301BHP of power In terms of performance the electric SUV can do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.3 seconds while the top speed remains at 180kmph.

On an SUV but still on that list just because it acts as an entry-level EV for Tesla. The all-new Tesla Model 3 comes with a 75kWh battery and an exciting 402km of range. Further, this electric sedan is capable of producing a massive 450HP and 639Nm of torque. Performance-wise, Tesla Model 3 can go from 0-100kmph in just 3.1 seconds making it one of the fastest electric sedans.
