SUVs are currently the best sellers in the Indian market. With the trend going in the favour of such huge machines, carmakers are desperately trying to leave their mark here. Recently, Volvo India has updated their mid-size luxury SUV and this time, it is XC90 that will be receiving similar a mild-hybrid powertrain for the MY2022. Planning to buy an SUV for the entire family? Let’s check out if one should wait for the updated Volvo XC90 with a mild-hybrid system to arrive in India or not.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Volvo is ready to introduce the all-new XC90 with a mild-hybrid system.
- Will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
- Will be featuring cosmetic updates similar to Volvo XC60 and S90 sedan.

Exterior & Design
Just like the XC60, this one will also get an updated exterior. To be precise, the all-new XC90 will be featuring new bumpers, sporty alloy wheels and a lot of new panels finished in chrome. The sleek headlamps that will be coming on the upcoming SUV are also expected to be adaptive units.
Cabin
On the inside, the upcoming XC90 will be featuring a similar dashboard layout that we have already witnessed on the recently launched XC60. Interestingly, being a seven-seater, it really offers acres of space inside and the seats at any given point in time can be reclined to make it even a four-seater.
At the front, it will be available with a large centre console. Apart from this, features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, Google Assistant, etc are also expected to be a part of the update.
Engine & Powerplant
Starting with the positive news, the all-new XC90 will be coming with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine alongside a 10.4kWh battery pack to boost the overall power and fuel efficiency. The power figures of the same are yet to be revealed and therefore, we have to wait for it till the brand confirms them.
Sadly, the brand has decided to bid an early goodbye to the 2.0-litre diesel motor and therefore, Volvo XC90 will now be a petrol-only model.
Alternatives
Globally, Volvo XC90 compares with other luxury SUVs such as Audi Q7, BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes-Benz GLE. Want to learn more about the new X5? Check out all the details related to it down below.
