Fully faired bikes look sportier when compared to others because we have seen them racing at multiple events including – Moto GP. Well, that’s just a reference. The major reason behind the fairing is to improve aerodynamic efficiency that ultimately leads to lower fuel consumption, stability and even protects riders in case of an accident.

Today, we have the two best in segment fully-faired sports bikes including Yamaha YZF R15 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Confused between the two? Well, here we are finding out which one is a better option for you.

Yamaha bikes are something you will definitely admire when it comes to performance. But this time, two more positive aspects including the design language and pricing is there to excite everyone further. The engine available on the Yamaha R15 V3.0 is tuned so that it can result in improved agility.

Feature-wise, Yamaha R15 V3.0 comes with some basic equipment such as twin-pod LED headlights, a fully digital instrument cluster and a side stand engine kill switch. Multiple shades including Thunder Grey, Metallic Red, Racing Blue and Dark Edition are available at different price points.

At the heart, the latest R15 comes with a BS6 compliant, 155cc single-cylinder engine. As claimed by the manufacturer, this motor can easily produce a decent output rated at 18.6PS and 14.1Nm. Transmission duties for this setup are handled by a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch as standard.

Using a Deltabox frame, it sits on a telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock unit at the back. Interestingly, the new bike comes with disc brakes on either end along with dual-channel ABS available across the entire trim.

Pros & Cons

The ergonomics of the Yamaha R15 is quite aggressive but being the most powerful 150cc bike in India it outshines all other factors smartly.

Bajaj Pulsar RS200

The looks still are subjective but the performance and ergonomics that Pulsar RS200 has got to offer are still undisputed. Over the past few years, Bajaj had made several changes to the colour shades and currently, only two of them are available restricting it in terms of options. It has got a powerful motor at the heart which of course has been co-developed with KTM.

Talking about the features, it comes loaded with dual projector headlamps with DRLs, LED indicators, semi-digital instrument cluster and backlit switched for easy access. The instrument cluster available on the RS200 is there with almost all the vital information required. Only three colour shades including Pearl White, Pewter Grey and Burnt Red are there for customers to choose from.

Powering the new range of Pulsar RS200 is a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Putting the overall output in numbers, this motor can produce a massive 24.5PS of power alongside a peak torque of 18.7Nm with a 6-speed gearbox for slick shifts.

Unlike the Yamaha R15, this bike uses a perimeter frame while sitting on a telescopic fork up front and a gas-charged monoshock unit at the back. For an enhanced braking power, Bajaj has decided to offer discs on both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Pros & Cons

Sporty design language at least for young buyers and a powerful engine of the Pulsar RS200 has really helped Bajaj to bag a lot of sales for the brand. The bike weighs somewhere around 166kgs which is again on the heavier side.
