₹50 new note

Putting all the rumours to a rest, Reserve Bank of India has confirmed that the images circulating on Social Media showing a ₹50 note in fluorescent blue colour is indeed authentic and the same will be officially launched in the coming days. With this, RBI also stated that the old ₹50 note will continue to be a legal tender.

The RBI release stated that the new ₹50 note will be launched in Mahatma Gandhi series and it will have a print of Hampi with Chariot on the back. This will prove to be beneficial for the promotion of India’s cultural heritage.

The images of new ₹50 note have been circulating on social media and WhatsApp for quite some time now. With the announcement from RBI, we can be sure that the announcement might take place sometime soon. From the pictures, it looks like the new note will be on the lines of new ₹500 and ₹2000 notes which were launched post demonetization. The used paper has a little texture feel and seems to have a better lifespan as compared to the old notes.

On the front side, there is a picture of Mahatma Gandhi along with 50 rupees written in Hindi and English. Numeric 50 is also written on both sides of the note. Emblem of Ashoka Piller is on the right of the front side, whereas, the number will be written on top left and bottom right.

Talking of the back of the note, It will have a white strip with Swachh Bharat logo along with motif of Hampi and Reserve Bank of India written at the top.
