Putting government’s stand on the rumors about the launch of INR 1000 notes with new design, Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday ruled out the relaunch of INR 1000 notes and added that the government and RBI are focusing on larger production of INR 500 note in order to meet cash shortage and promote lower denomination notes in the circulation.
He also added that the cash shortage in ATMs across the country is being worked upon and requested the people to withdraw money according to the need. The statement from EAS came via a couple of tweets.
No plans to introduce ₹1000 notes. Focus is on production and supply of ₹500 and lower denomination notes.

This comes after the statement by Arun Jaitley in which he had said that the situation has become almost normal after the demonetization announced on November 8th. He had also said that the cash problem across the country is being monitored by RBI on a daily basis.
