Reserve Bank of India has confirmed that the new Rs 200 note will be launched officially tomorrow. The launch of Rs 200 note is expected to help a smooth circulation of currency in the country as well as it will address the gap created because of not having any currency between the range of Rs 100 and Rs 500.

In an official statement today, RBI stated that the new denomination note will be launched on 25th August. These notes will be launched in Mahatma Gandhi (new) series and will bear the signature of Urjit R Patel, RBI governor. The release also stated that the note will have notif of Sanchi Stupa on the back and Mahatma Gandhi on the front. Printed with a bright-yellow colour scheme, the design and geometric patterns are well aligned with the features of the new note.

RBI has issued a big list of the features of new note. Let’s have a look at these features

  1. The new denomination note is under Mahatma Gandhi (new) series. It will have the signature of Urjit R Patel, current RBI governor.
  2. The top layer on the front will have Reserve Bank of India written in English and Hindi. In the middle of the same layer, 200 rupees written in Devanagari font along with a picture of Mahatma Gandhi in the centre.
  3. Security thread at the centre with Bharat and RBI written on it. The thread will change its colour when the note is tilted.
  4. Guarantee clause, the signature of RBI governor and promise clause on the right of Mahatma Gandhi.
  5. Ashoka Piller emblem will be present on the extreme right.
  6. The note also has a number of security features and identification features for visually impaired users. It has raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi and Ashoka Piller on the front. Also, on either side of the note, there are 4 bleed lines with 2 zeroes.

  1. The left side of note will have the year of printing. Besides that, the traditional white strip with Swachh Bharat logo and the tagline.
  2. Along with that, the phrase 200 rupees is written in 20+ languages. Middle of the note is occupied by Sanchi Stupa.

With the official confirmation from RBI, the new note seems just set to get launched and smoothen the circulation of the currency in the market. RBI will officially launch the new note tomorrow and we will see it with us almost immediately.
