On May 23, a day before Air Flight may resume their operations after getting permitted by the central government, a lot of confusion made passengers anxious. Several State governments have announced that they will not allow domestic Air flights to resume operations as they fear that can make Covid-19 Pandemic situation worse in their states. Some other states said that they will quarantine passengers post their travel.
These statements from state governments triggered confusion among a lot of passengers and it may result in massive ticket cancellations resulting in Airlines to suffer losses. However, the centre has refused to allow state governments to prevent airlines from resuming their flight operations. Under announcement of Lockdown 4.0, the centre has permitted domestic flights with one-third capacity of the summer schedule to operate from May 25. According to EaseMyTrip.com CEO, Nishant Pitti, a lot of customers who were confused have approached their customer care service to get clarity on the matter.
Most of the confusion is among people who have planned to travel Mumbai which is currently under the cloud of Quarantine Confusion. A lot of queries regarding travel to Mumbai were asked by passengers. CM Uddhav Thackeray has announced that he will not allow flight operations to resume in his state as the Pandemic situation is getting deteriorated day by day even when the state was under PM stringent Nationwide Lockdown.
While the centre denied accepting any such demand of further delaying in the resumption of Air flight operations. However, passengers may be sent into quarantine post their travel by state governments. National guidelines regarding resuming Flight Operations and quarantine norms for air passengers should be issued by the Centre government after having a proper discussion with state governments so that people can get clarity on the matter and can take decisions accordingly.
