Coronavirus has hit Bajaj Auto hard. Their two-wheeler sales have reported a drop of 35% for the month of April. But on the contrary, they were not able to sell a unit of Two-Wheeler or Commercial Vehicle In April  2020 in the domestic market whereas in April 2021  its overall sales in the segment stood at 1,34,471 units.

Though one cannot compare the figures with last year April 2020 as they have sold none in the domestic market like all other Indian Manufacturers owing to the nationwide lockdown in India from 25th March onwards. Still, The April sales figures for Bajaj actually shows a fall in growth in the two wheeler segment as compared to March this year. In March 2021, Bajaj Auto had managed to sell 181,393 units in March 2021 than 98,412 units sold in March a year ago, which is 84% higher. In April the sales figures dropped nearly 35% in the two wheeler  domestic market segment. 

The company said in a BSE filing, ”Bajaj Auto’s overall sales of vehicles, including commercial ones, stood at 3,88,016 units in April as against 37,878 units sold in April last year.”

According to the company, the Commercial vehicles sold in April 2021 were at 39,843 units whereas 5,869 units were sold in April last year.

Bajaj Auto’s Exports stood at 2,53,545 units last month against 37,878 units in April 2020.
