The Carlyle Group and Airtel

On Wednesday, The Carlyle Group declared that it will invest $235 million for roughly 25 per cent stake in Nxtra Data Ltd, a fully-owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel occupied in the data centre business.

The post-money enterprise quotation of Nxtra is somewhere around $1.2 billion and Carlyle will hold a stake of approximately 25% in the business upon fulfilment of the transaction. Also, Airtel  will continue to hold the remaining stake of just about 75%, Bharti Airtel confirmed in a statement.

The transaction is subject to the necessary regulatory acceptances, including heads-up from the Competition Commission of India. Headquartered in New Delhi, Nxtra provides secure data centre solujtions to leading Indian and global enterprises.

“Rapid digitisation has opened up an immense growth prospects for data centres in India and we plan to expedite our investments to become a major player in this market.
