Cooking Gas Cylinder Will Now Cost You Rs 50 Extra

The rate of domestic cooking gas increased by ₹ 50 per cylinder on Saturday. It is for the second time in two months. Earlier this month, the price of commercial LPG cylinders rose by ₹ 102.50.

A 14.2-kg non-subsidized cooking gas cylinder, commonly called an LPG cylinder, would now cost ₹ 999.50 in Delhi.

The last time the price hike happened was on March 22. An increase of ₹ 50 weighed pressure on homemakers’ kitchen budget.

There was no increase in the rate of LPG cylinder in the month of April. However the month of May has come with a plan to weaken the common man’s pocket more than it was already.

Hefty food prices are testing the patience of the common man. Everyday, he faces the question of how to feed his children? You name a kitchen item, and compare it with the previous months, it is at a race to increase day by day.

The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the data for retail inflation for March, which showed that the Consumer Price Index spiked to 6.95% a record high in 17-months. In February 2022, it was 6.07% and 5.52% in March 2021. It noted that the inflation has raised on the back of a surge in food prices.

A 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder now sells at ₹ 2,355.50, more than a Rs 100 hike from the earlier price of ₹ 2,253.
