IndiGo, which is one of India’s largest and richest airline in terms of cash reserve, has come up and announced that as per the earlier announcement it has reversed the pay cut of up to 25% and all of its employees will be getting their full salary without any decrease meant for April.

However, all of the top-level employees of Indigo have volunteered to take a pay cut and will forego their salaries until the situation improves for starting again.

As per the email of last month, from April 1, IndiGo had announced a pay cut of up to 25%. While all of the other executives above the senior vice president level of Indigo would take cuts of 20%; vice presidents and pilots would take a 15% cut, while other employees of Indigo including cabin crew would take a 5%-10% deductions.

In an email to all the employees by its CEO, Rono Dutta stated that all the employees can look forward to receiving their salaries for April without any pay cut.

Following the announcement made by the IndiGo, different other airlines had also announced pay cuts. As the other airlines are not as cash-rich as IndiGo, it is, however, unlikely that others will reverse their pay cut decisions.

Since the lockdown was announced by the government to control the spread of Coronavirus, several airlines are grounded and they have been under financial stress since they are not operating flights.
