What may come as a relief to its 150,000 employees, HCL announces that it shall not cut salaries. The software services giant will also follow through with its pending promised bonuses. This comes as a happy surprise to employees despite the fact that the company may deal with a slowdown in IT spends, thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak. The reason behind the decision is that HCL believes in honouring commitments to their employees.

The company shall further honour almost 15000 job offers promised to freshers.

The company says that they haven’t witnessed cancellation of projects; just minor delays in existing ones. As of Wednesday, they were recruiting for some areas and had 5000 open requirements. Most of their sectors seemed to be flourishing.

HCL shall take calls on its annual appraisal processes closer to July, as and when the decisions are due.

Amidst the news of Wipro, TCS and Infosys, holding back on bonuses, salaries and promotions, HCL sets an example. The company also noticed a 16-17% hike in productivity since the Lockdown was announced. They are also in the process of working out conditions with which almost 50% of their workforce, could work-from-home, long-term.
