In a span of one day after the Liquefied Petroleum Gas was hiked by got costlier by Rs 50 per cylinder, the second time in just two months, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi put the Modi government in the dock by comparing the rate between the present regime and UPA’s tenure.
“Only Congress governs for the welfare of poor & middle-class Indian families. It’s the core of our economic policy,” Gandhi tweeted, following the hike of Rs 50 in LPG cylinders.
LPG Cylinder
Rate Subsidy
INC (2014) ₹410 ₹827
BJP (2022) ₹999 ₹02 cylinders then for the price of 1 now!
Only Congress governs for the welfare of poor & middle class Indian families. It’s the core of our economic policy.

The Congress leader compared LPG cylinder pricing during the UPA and the current BJP administration in his post.
He said that when the UPA was in charge, LPG cost Rs 410 with a subsidy of Rs 827, whereas a cylinder costs Rs 999 with no subsidy under the BJP government.
Mr. Gandhi said that millions of Indian households are struggling to cope with “extreme inflation”, unemployment, and “poor governance”.
In Delhi, Oil marketing companies (OMCs) are selling 14.2-kg LPG cylinders at Rs 999.5, up from the earlier rate of Rs 949.5. The OMCs hiked the LPG cylinder rate on March 22 by Rs 50 per cylinder.
The price of LPG is dependent on the international prices of LPG, which are up shooting as a consequence of supply concerns arising out of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
