To deepen corporation between the two regions, European Union (EU) and India, in the wake of current geopolitical changes, agreed to launch a trade and technology council, on Monday.

Currently, European Union has only one Trade and Technology Council (TTC), which is with the United States, now the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to launch the EU’s second trade and technology council with India.

“India is technologically a powerhouse, and in the trade sector, we need to unleash an enormous amount of untapped potential,” as mentioned by President Ursula von der Leyen in a statement.

Furthermore, the EU added in a statement, “the Trade and Technology Council will provide the political steer and necessary structure to operationalize political decisions, coordinate technical work, and report to the political level to ensure the implementation and follow-up in areas that are important for the sustainable progress of European and Indian economies.”

Furthermore, the president at the International Solar Alliance on Sunday addresses the growing need for clean energy and she also emphasized the “home-grown clean energy”, in the wake of a present geopolitical crisis.

In this regard, she further added “the EU will diversify away from fossil fuels and invest heavily in clean renewable energy. Therefore, the cooperation with India is not only on solar but also on green hydrogen is critical.”
