EPS (Employees Provident Scheme) Pensioners will now have the option of submitting their Jeevan Pramaan or life certificates digitally through the Common Service Centres (CSC) closer to their homes. Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has adopted the multi-agency model to empower EPS pensioners with choice and autonomy to select the service delivery agency as per their convenience.

It will benefit 65 lakh pensioners. For this EPFO has partnered with 3.65 lakh Common Service Centres (CSC) across the country. However, EPS Pensioners can continue to submit Jeevan Pramaan or life certificates through existing 135 regional offices and 117 district offices and pension disbursing banks.

EPFO requires its pensioners to submit Jeevan Pramaan/life certificate each year in order to continue drawing a pension. They can submit the certificate any time in a year as per their convenience. Once the certificate is submitted, its validity extends for a period of one year.

In the previous system, pensioners were required to submit their life certificates only in the month of November when its validity used to expire. The system has put a lot of pensioners in trouble as it had made their access to pension difficult.

In a statement issued on 11 July, EPFO said, ” In recognition of the need to bring service delivery closer to the doorsteps of EPS pensioners, especially during the challenging times of COVID -19 Pandemic, EPFO has proactively partnered with Common Service Centre (CSC) to provide the facility to submit Digital Jeevan Pramaan”.
