On Wednesday, Facebook revealed that it has entered into a global deal with Saregama- one of India’s greatest music labels. Therefore, users can now access its licensed music/video or other experiences across Instagram and Facebook.

The new partnership comes weeks after Swedish music-streaming giant Spotify signed a deal with Saregama as well. The Spotify-Saregama deal allows users to choose from a variety of music to add to their social media. In addition, they can now also add other creative content such as adding songs to their Facebook profiles.

Saregama is one of the world’s oldest music labels and is the best place to find yesteryear charm. Tracks from several Indian music legends like R.D.Burman, Mohammed Rafi, and Manna Dey encompass Saregama’s extensive library. Further, it also contains more than 100000 Bollywood songs, ghazals and music in over 25 languages.

News reports say that Kolkata-based Saregama’s shares have surged by more than 20%.

Facebook has also signed music licensing deals with labels like the Universal Music Group for its recorded music and other content across its services, including Oculus.

In 2018, Facebook and Spotify also signed a deal to allow users to share Spotify albums and tracks to Instagram stores. In addition, the Spotify song-sharing feature was also added to Facebook Stories in 2019.
