GST

The finance ministry today announced that the GST collection in the month of September had reached ₹92,150 crores (till October 23rd, 2017). The total collection was contributed by a total of 42.91 lakh businesses across the country.

Out of the total tax collected, ₹14,042 Crores was against Central GST, whereas, ₹21,172 Crores were collected as State GST. The amount of GST collected under IGST (Integrated Goods & Services Tax) was calculated to be ₹48,948 Crores. ₹23,951 Crores of the total IGST was in form of imports. Till yesterday, 42.91 lakh businesses had filed GST returns and the number might increase slightly in the coming days. The government has also announced waiving off the penalty for the late submissions of GST returns for the months of August and September.

According to the data announced by the government, July saw a collection of over ₹95,000 Crores under GST, whereas, August had a slightly lower collection at ₹91,000 Crores. September was just the third month since the implementation of GST.
